Beauty vs. Wealth

If I had to choose between being WEALTHY and UGLY or POOR and BEAUTIFUL, I would have to choose being poor and beautiful. I have never known what beauty feels like, so that is my reason it. And being poor isn't so bad. I'm not poor, but I'm no super rich either. And even if I was wealthy and ugly, it wouldn't matter because if you believe that your pretty, than your inner beauty will show. If you have a good personality, and you can socialize well, then you will be beautiful no matter what. So, I guess the true question is, if you wanted to convert from being poor to wealthy, or vise versa. For me, I would very much enjoy to have money, but love, family, friends, and life is all I need to get by (with some food of course).

In 10 yrs...

In 10 years, which will be the year of 2018, I hope that I will be a successful woman. Right now, I'm going to high school, and planning out the rest of my life by choosing my career. I'm looking at going to college to be a nurse, or secretary. By then, I hopefully have settled down, and have a family of my own, and have a semi-good life. And I will be able to provide my family with love and support that I never had. I just hope that I can find Mr. Right, and start from there. No matter what happens in the next 10 years, good or bad; it always happens for a reason.

9-11-08

In the year of 2001, we had a horrible tragedy happen to the U.S. We had a terrorist attack on the Pentagon and the Twin Towers. It was a horrible time for us, but as an 8 year old; I didn't know what the big deal was. So what if a plane broke some buildings? It was nothing new to me. I don't remember exactly what I was doing, but the little things I do remember will stay with me forever. I was in Mr. Hughes class (third grade), and when he found out about the situation, he tried distracting us from the problem. He gave us some coloring sheets, just so we wouldn't freak out out about all the teachers crying, and screaming because they were scared. I must say, he was very good at doing that. After school let out, I went home and asked my mom what was going on, she said that some very mean people were trying to hurt the people in our country. After that, she broke down and started crying. I didn't understand what the reason behind that was, but I went and hugged her and said that everything was going to be ok. That next day was a Wednesday, so I went to church and prayed for the people that were hurt, and the people that were hurting us. That's all I can remember. If i could run a certain activity to commemorate this certain day, I would probably have to say a parade. Honoring our loved ones who died from the attack, and our loved ones who died trying to help the victims. Even if we know them or not, they are still apart of us every day, in our hearts, and in our minds when we come to the anniversary of this tragic day, 9/11.

Journal

If i could change one thing about my life it would have to be my past. The way my biological mom treated me, the way she treated my daddy and many other reasons. From birth to 3 weeks old, my mom never came to see me. She left me at her mom's house in Lake View. Since her mom didn't want to watch me either, she just left me in the car seat the whole time. The back side of my head was literally bald. And then, from 3 weeks to 3 months old, I stayed with my grandma, which is now my adopted mom. She just said that she was too stressed out to be caring for a little brat like me that cried all the time. And the worst part of it all, (I'm so emotional about it) is that she never held me, never took pictures of me, and basically never gave me any TLC. My brother Johnathan, he has a baby book, 4 photo albums full of pictures of just him, but i have 1 picture of me; but it only showed my back. So, for all those kids out there who have a mom, but she "gets on your nerves", just think of it this way.... At least she loves you enough to talk to you, and all the good stuff that "NORMAL" parents are supposed to do.

School Dress Code

On July 30, 1997 the Board of Education of the Santa Barbara Elementary and High School Districts (Santa Barbara, California) considered enacting a new, stricter dress code for the secondary schools. According to Board minutes, the code proposed by the "district staff and site principals" was very strict and apparently even prohibited the wearing of "religious pride" articles. This was objected to and removed from the proposed code because it "fringes (sic) on first amendment rights." The Board placed the new dress code on the agenda for it's August meeting.

On Wednesday, August 27, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. the School Board met. At that meeting the Board voted to enact the new Dress Code which will apply to all high schools, junior highs and middle schools in the District. The new code is very strict and also very vague and bans any symbol which is considered "inflammatory."

Many students and parents came to the August 27, 1997 School Board meeting to object to the new dress code. Twenty people asked to address the board to object to the new code. We gave a petition to the board with the signatures of nearly one hundred students and parents opposed to the code. These signatures were obtained in only two days. There were no speakers who addressed the board in favor of the dress code. The Board members and staff also mentioned that they also have received many letters and phone calls objecting to the new dress code.

Because of the strong objections from parents and students, the Board made the following statements of policy and changes in the new Dress Code:

-During the first semester a student will not be disciplined for violating the new dress code.

-During the first semester the board will consider modifying the dress code and ordered the staff to set up a procedure to allow student input regarding possible modifications.

-The part of the draft code regarding shoes was completely removed.

-The board said the ban on caps and other headcoverings would "obviously" not be applied to students who wore these items for religious or health reasons.

-The Board members made many statements about how the new dress code should be enforced in a "reasonable" way and based on "common sense."

This was a major but only partial victory for the many people who strongly object that the new school dress code is still unreasonable and violates a student's Constitutional Rights.

Be happy that you don't have to follow these rules. And if you do, I feel sorry for you.

My First Post

Today is Mix-n-Match day at school. I have never seen so many different styles of clothing, make-up or even hairstyles. It is so funny to be walking down the hall and to see one of the most popular guys wearing a cowgirl shirt, and pink boots! But its all in the spirit of the Bobcats. Most of the student body, even the freshman are trying their best to look the goofiest they can. And whereas the people that wore regular clothes, stick out way more than the people with regular clothes on.
